“We are all monkeys. We are all the same. Say NO to racism.”

The world of football and all people who understand that racism is completely unacceptable are rallying around the footballer Dani Alves who faced racist abuse during a football game when racist football fans threw a banana onto the pitch in front of him. He calmly picked it up, eat it and swiftly took his corner kick.

Showing their support yesterday was fellow Brazilian Neymar who posted a picture of him and his son eating bananas together on Instagram with the caption:

“We are all monkeys. We are all the same. Say NO to racism.”

Other people are following the trend to try and take back this common racist action of throwing bananas at footballers so that it no longer has any racist meaning.

  1. I agree with the fact that people are trying to stop and Alves reacted to it very well by carrying playing the game without showing any signs of anger.

  2. I believe that the footballer was very responsible unlike the other footballers that threw the banana as he did not start a big fight and calmly responded to it which I think is showing the other footballers how racist they were being and I hope they realise their mistakes.

  3. It was not right for any football fan to be racist and I agree about the punishment given to the fan, also impressed that dani Alves did not react and just carried on playing

  4. I think that Dani Alves did the right thing by showing these racist fans that he is not bothered nor upset about this incident that occured. Him carrying on with the game and persevering showed that he was intelligent and ambitious. Racism is now being common worldwide, even to celebrities and famous, inspiring people which is a disgrace to the world we live and with the people we live among.

  5. I think Dani dealt with the situation very well by staying calm and not getting provoked. by doing this he made the situation quick and swift because if he retaliated the situation would’ve escalated and could get out of hands

  6. I think Dani Alves took the situation well. He didn’t provoke the fans and made a joke out of it. Racism is common worldwide and it’s good to see him not taking it seriously, however it still needs to stop. The fan that threw it deserved to be punished.

  7. Dani Alves did the right thing by responding to these racists and kept calm. Whoever threw the banana deserves to be punished as racism is wrong.

  8. Dani dealt with the situation very well and so did supporters of football, especially neymar who i think done a great thing to support his teammate

  9. I think Dani Alves reacted well and the person who threw the bannana was trying to get a negative reaction. But i feel this is wrong as everyone is equall and should be treated fairly.

  10. i think that Dani Alves reacted very maturely to what happened during the football game. They were trying to distract Dani but he wasn’t going to let it bother him. Football is a strong sport against rasism and Dani is a prime example of this.

  11. It is nice that neymar changed the response towards racism from the football fans into saying ‘we are all monkeys, we are all the same’ he is implying that we should all be treated fairly as we are all the same and segregation should not occur

  12. I think that Dani Alves reacted very maturely to what happened during the football game. They were trying to distract Dani but he wasn’t going to let it bother him. Football is a strong sport against racism and Dani is a prime example of this. His fellow team mate Neymar did a great thing trying to get the message across about not be be racist. Football is a sport that brings everyone together, not and opportunity to be horrible and racist.
