15th May is International Conscientious Objector Day

There seems to be a special day for everything in 2014, and now it seems we also have an International Conscientious Objector Day on the calendar.

One hundred years on from the Great War (later known as World War I, once World War II had happened) there is plenty to find in the media to gain a greater insight into human sacrifice and change due to this horrifying conflict. Today’s offering by the Guardian explains about men who fought a different kind of battle in WWI as conscientious objectors.

  1. I think this is a great video. People should try and remember the people who had died because of this war. They sacrificed their lives to fight for their cause.

  2. During the war the Conscientious Objectors were seen as cowards and they were not treated well.
Today many more people think they made a courageous decision.
