Father: “My son died in Syria for a just cause”

The story of an 18 year old British man dying in Syria hit the news a few days ago. It is an interesting story encompassing feelings about a just cause, the Muslim idea of jihad and the feeling of Ummah across the globe.

The fact that Abdullah Deghayes’s father was apparently unaware that his son was out in Syria fighting and that two of Abdullah’s brothers were also involved in the conflict is astonishing.

  1. The Qur’an teaches that anyone killed whilst fighting for a “just cause” goes straight to Heaven. I think knowing this could offer Abdullah’s family members some comfort, as they know that Abdullah has received the reward of a place in Heaven.
